final products are widely applied in various industries, including
food, pharmaceuticals, toothpaste, daily chemicals, battery and new
energy, textile printing and dyeing, ceramics, papermaking, oil
drilling, and many others.
Product Description
CMC, or sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, is a significant form of
cellulose and a highly water-soluble polyanionic compound derived
from chemically modified natural fibers. It is readily soluble in
cold water. CMC possesses outstanding and highly valuable
comprehensive physical and chemical properties, such as emulsifying
ability, dispersion, solid dispersion, non-perishability, and
physiological harmlessness, making it a widely utilized natural
polymer derivative.
The superior characteristics of sodium CMC include thickening,
water retention, metabolic inertness, film-forming ability,
dispersion stability, and more. Due to these properties, it can
serve as thickeners, water retention agents, binders, lubricants,
emulsifiers, auxiliary deflocculants, tablet bases, biological
substrates, and carriers for biological products.
Coating Grade CMC
In coatings, CMC exhibits excellent thickening, dispersibility, and
stability. It enhances the stability of the emulsion polymerization
system, ensuring superior pigment adhesion in the coating.
Additionally, it increases the viscosity and leveling of the
coating emulsion, thereby improving the application performance of
the coating. Notably, CMC can be stored for a long time without
precipitation. It is environmentally friendly, safe, non-toxic, and
harmless. As a result, it is widely used in various coatings,
including latex paints, water-based interior and exterior wall
paints, and casting coatings.
Applications in Ceramics
CMC finds applications in ceramics, specifically in ceramic bodies,
glazing slurries, and decorations. In ceramic bodies, it acts as an
effective strengthening agent, enhancing the plasticity of clay and
sand materials, facilitating base shaping, and increasing the
bending strength of greenware. In glazing slurries and decorations,
CMC functions as a binder, providing suspension, anti-coagulation,
and water retention properties.
Regarding usage:
- In ceramic bodies, the recommended addition rate is 0.03% to 0.2%.
- For glazing slurries, the addition rate ranges from 0.05% to 0.2%.
- In colored glazes, the addition rate is between 1.4% and 4.0%.
